Care for Jewellery

Silver

Each Patatina ring is handmade from recycled 925 sterling silver. Sterling silver is made to last, but like all precious metals, it can naturally tarnish over time.

One of the best ways to keep your ring looking its brightest is simply to wear it. Regular wear can help slow tarnishing, and a gentle polish with a soft silver polishing cloth will restore its shine when needed.

To help preserve the finish, avoid contact with perfumes, moisturisers, sunscreen, hairspray, and household cleaning products. It’s always best to put your ring on as the final step of getting ready.

When you’re not wearing your ring, store it in a cool, dry place, ideally in a soft pouch or jewellery box. Keeping it separate from other jewellery will help prevent scratches and keep it looking its best for years to come.

Recycled sterling silver jewellery

Earrings

Every pair of Patatina earrings is handmade using recycled materials that have lived a life before finding their way to you. Because many of the beads, pearls, and vintage components are carefully sourced second hand, we don’t always know their exact age or history. A little extra care will help keep them looking their best.

To help protect your earrings, please remove them before swimming, showering, using hot tubs, or going into the sea. We also recommend taking them off before exercising and avoiding contact with perfumes, lotions, cleaning products, and other harsh chemicals.

Treat your earrings gently, store them somewhere dry when you’re not wearing them, and they’ll be ready for many more adventures.

Sustainability

Each year, countless pieces of jewellery are forgotten, broken up or thrown away, ending their life in landfill. So much of it could keep being worn and loved, if only it stayed in the cycle a little longer.

Every Patatina piece begins with materials that already have a story, reclaimed silver, vintage beads and pearls whose origins may be unknown. Giving these forgotten treasures a new life is at the heart of everything I make.

Caring for your jewellery is part of that story too. By choosing to recycle, reuse and reduce, and by looking after the pieces you own, we keep jewellery out of landfill and in the cycle, a small, beautiful way to take care of the planet.
